The online knowledge assessment, or multiple choice questionnaire (MCQ), is designed to ensure candidates have the requisite knowledge to provide safe, effective screening.
This part of the assessment is completed via our website and should be taken under exam conditions at the screening centre. The MCQ is a one-hour multiple-choice questionnaire with 60 questions, based largely on lesion recognition and management. The current pass mark is 60%.
The MCQ can be attempted a maximum of 3 times within 12 months from the date of the first assessment. To allow for reflection and improvement between attempts, the candidate should leave 2 weeks between attempts.
If a candidate does not pass the MCQ in 3 attempts, they are required to wait until 12 months have elapsed from the first attempt and will be required to reapply for the programme in full and resit both the DOPS assessment and the MCQ exam.
